From the age of 10, my dream was to be a vet. I wanted to work with animals and improve their quality of life, helping them thrive in happy homes . Following this dream, I graduated in 1997, completing my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and passed the MRCVS (Member of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) exams in 2000. I've enjoyed working in veterinary practices and in research focusing on small animal nutrition, behaviour and internal medicine. During this time, I have had the pleasure to work with well known veterinary behaviourist, Sarah Heath.

In the last 25 years, I have worked with police dogs, avalanche and rescue dogs, show dogs, show cats and pets of all shapes and sizes. From this I have learned that the most important fact in the human-companion animal relationship is communication.

Every pet I work with is different but all of them have the same need for safety, nourishment and love. When a pet becomes 'a problem', it is usually because they are trying to communicate a need to us which WE are not understanding. We try to correct this unwanted behaviour in the way THEY don’t understand and the result is a rift between a pet and their owner. This can often spiral into further tensions within the family and suddenly, the pet that was supposed that was intended to bring joy, is causing stress and anxiety.

My approach to behaviour therapy and pet rehabilitation is to observe and learn about the needs of the pet and the owner and then to bring them both together. Like a good mediator, I don’t believe in compromises; I believe in creating win-win scenarios.

That does not mean that the solution will be easy and without consistent work and effort from both the owner and the pet. However in learning to understand and respect each other, a long lasting bond can be created and bring balance and happiness to families.

I love what I do and it brings me immense pleasure to be on your journey with you, creating deep bonds and happiness with you and your furry member of your family!
